About Bonnie R. Giller, MS, RD, CDN, CDE

Bonnie is a Registered Dietitian (R.D.) and is certified by the New York State Education Department as a Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist (CDN). Bonnie operates a successful private practice in beautiful Long Island, New York. Since 1987, Bonnie has helped thousands of individuals achieve their nutrition and fitness goals. Bonnie is committed to improving the health of individuals through positive lifestyle changes and healthier eating habits.

As a registered and certified dietitian, Bonnie provides Medical Nutrition Therapy to individuals seeking aid in the management of many medical conditions. In addition, Bonnie is a Certified Diabetes Educator (C.D.E.), helping individuals with diabetes understand their complex medical condition, stabilize their blood glucose levels and learn proper meal planning techniques. Bonnie is also Certified in Family & Consumer Sciences, with her focus being nutrition education for the entire family.

In addition to her private practice, Bonnie mentors nutrition students and guides them in their future careers. She was the director of an American Dietetic Association accredited dietetic internship program, run by the largest contract management company in North America. Bonnie oversaw the New York Metropolitan area program. In this role, Bonnie taught and coordinated the learning experience of dietetic interns. Previously, Bonnie was also the Clinical Nutrition Manager at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, a large teaching facility in Queens, N.Y.

Bonnie enjoys giving lectures to both the professional and lay audience. Nutrition Topics include: Demystifying Common Nutrition Myths, Heart Healthy Eating, Go with the Grain, Nutrition and Osteoporosis, Supermarket Shopping Solutions, Nutritious Treats for the Entire Family, Pre-Passover Stress Management with Healthy Eating Tips during Passover.

Bonnie is the author of Recipes to Remember: Heart Healthy Can Be Delicious, a cookbook with 200 recipes that your heart will love. She has also authored Passover the Healthy Way: Light, Tasty and Easy Recipes Your Whole Family Will Enjoy, a cookbook with more than a hundred taste-tested Kosher recipes that either limits or substitutes ingredients so you can enjoy traditional holiday foods in a healthier way.

Bonnie is married and lives in Long Island, N.Y. with her husband and three single children. She has one married son.

Bonnie earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Food and Nutrition from Queens College and her Master of Science degree in Clinical Nutrition from Brooklyn College. She completed her dietetic internship at North Shore University Hospital (formerly Central General Hospital) in Plainview, N.Y. She is a member of many professional associations including:
